4) ABROAD STUDENT LETTER
Dear all,
I write the process on how to get a scholarship and I share it to all of you. Whatever I write is only what I think, I research and what happened to me. This is does not mean absolute successful with all cases. But hope they are useful.
How to get a scholarship?
1. Hunt for information scholarship.
I found out a scholarship through advertisement, on the internet or my friends. If you found some information interested, then you could apply. But I am only interested to fully scholarship. So I choose European scholarship. And you need to define where you want to study and what major you want to study. In this case, I advise you should choose major what you really like. This is very important.
2. Find the university you want to go to study.
You should make sure that you know where you want to go and it will depend on what subject you wish to study. Again, check the requirements carefully: overview about the university, the transport how you can get, dormitory, course fee etc.
3. Get the scholarship form and read it carefully.
Make sure that you are eligible to the scholarship, you are within the age range, the topic you want is included, your background is acceptable etc.
4. Collecting the requirement, information what you need.
If it requires TOEFL/IELTS score, then do it. If it is not specified, better ask than sorry. Go to the websites of the Universities you are interested in attending. These websites will be provided more information useful.
5. Prepare documents include files and register online application.
Register online application and print them. Then send your documents to school on time by post office. Make sure that your application is neat, clear, concise etc. Pay attention to deadline.
6. Join the entrance examination to get scholarship.
You need to review your knowledge, your skills and try your best to pass the exam or get a scholarship. If you have TOEFL/IELTS, I think it is your advantage. Try to do it.
7. Get the requirements they want.
Make sure that you can fulfil all the requirements. It is very useful if you have some additional things that you can offer. In my situation, I get involve with lots of certify working time. These are very positive addition for my applications.
Tips:
1. Some question maybe ask you and you must have a clear idea to answer.
o Why do you want to take the degree?
o Why is it important for you to take that degree?
o What is your future plan?
o How will the degree support your plan?
o What is the benefit of your degree and knowledge for you, for your office, for your country and for the founder?
o How did you get your information about the school?
o Why do you choose this school?
o Have you prepared your files by yourself or you had someone help you?
o After finishing your studies, how much does it benefit you?
o Do you intend to stay there after you graduated?
2. You must have confidence that you need the degree, you can do it, and you can implement your knowledge in your work. Especially, you should promise that you return to Vietnam when you finish your studies.
3. Join the forum to make friends and found down more information about living cost, transport, education system etc. Maybe they share more useful information with you and can support you when you need.
4. Maybe you need to provide evidence as to your financial situation, buy health insurance to get visa if you pass.
5. List detail what you need to bring when you leave your home. Prepare them carefully.
6. Create bank account to save money and use Visa Credit Card to pay all fees.
